Exo Terra’s All-Mesh Explorarium Provides Optimal Ventilation for Reptiles and Amphibians

Exo Terra’s Explorarium is a lightweight, compact and portable terrarium that’s perfect for any herp enthusiast, whether you’re a professional looking for new species in the rainforests of the Amazon or collecting garter snakes in your suburban backyard.

MANSFIELD, Mass. Expert herpetologists and researchers know that a safe and secure, yet lightweight and portable containment system is a necessity when in the field.  The Explorarium from Exo Terra gives herpetologists the flexibility of a full-mesh, totally portable design that adds little weight to the researcher’s equipment and helps to ease stress on the collected reptiles and amphibians by allowing them to remain in their natural habitat.  For reptile owners, the attractive and stylish Explorarium offers a fully-ventilated enclosure that can be used as a permanent home for their pets.

As a field enclosure, the Exo Terra Explorarium is extremely easy to set up – simply unzip it from its carrying bag and the Explorarium pops up and is ready to go.  A top loop allows the Explorarium to be suspended from a hook, but it can also be set on the ground or a table.  Two secure openings – a side zip and a Velcro top – prevent escapes yet allow easy access to the interior for meal times or when adding or removing reptiles or amphibians.  Also, because it is available in three sizes, the Explorarium is appropriate for just about any size reptile or amphibian.

For home use, the “open-air” concept of the Explorarium makes it an ideal basking enclosure, because it allows UVB radiation – which is necessary for all reptiles and amphibians – to penetrate through the mesh and reach the animals inside.  It can also be used as permanent outdoor housing for reptiles in warmer climates and in cooler areas, it allows owners to treat their reptiles to outdoor breezes on warm and sunny days.  An included Flextray attaches to the bottom of the Explorarium to hold substrate and liquids inside the enclosure.

The sturdy Explorarium can also be used inside the home, where it becomes an optimally-ventilated indoor enclosure, especially ideal for species like Chameleons, which need the excellent ventilation that the all-mesh Explorarium provides.  An interior hook allows for the mounting of an incandescent light fixture so important UVB and ultraviolet rays can reach all areas of the enclosure without fear of overheating, as can happen in some glass terrariums.

Exo Terra’s Explorarium comes in three sizes – 12” x 18” (30cm x 45cm), 18” x 24” (45cm x 60 cm), and 24” x 36” (60cm x 90 cm), to accommodate most species of reptiles and amphibians.  A custom-sized carrying bag is included.  It is available at pet retailers nationwide.  For more information visit www.exo-terra.com, or contact the Rolf C.
