RECALL ALERT – Iams Recalls Dry Eukanuba Naturally Wild And Eukanuba Custom Care Sensitive Skin

August 9, 2010

From our friends at Pet Supplies “Plus”:

Recall Also Includes dry Eukanuba Pure In All Sizes and Varieties, and Iams Veterinary Dry Formulas

Iams has recalled dry Eukanuba Naturally Wild pet food in all bag sizes and varieties and for all expiration dates as well as Eukanuba Custom Care Sensitive Skin because of the potential for Salmonella contamination.  These foods are sold at PSP and other pet specialty retailers. Anyone who has purchased this food should stop feeding it to their pet immediately. Affected food should be returned to your local PSP store double bagged in plastic (to prevent contact with the food) for a full refund.

Iams has also recalled dry Eukanuba Pure in all sizes and varieties, and Iams Veterinary dry formulas.  Unlike Eukanuba Naturally Wild and Eukanuba Custom Care Sensitive Skin, these foods are not stocked by PSP, but we are including them in this alert as a service to our customers.

This recall is being issued because the food has the potential to be contaminated by salmonella. No canned food or biscuits is affected by this recall.  Below is a listing of the recalled foods. Once again, only Eukanuba Naturally Wild is sold at PSP stores.

When disposing of any food that may be contaminated with Salmonella, please do so safely, sealing and securing it in way that it isn’t accessible to pets, wildlife or children.  Wear protective gloves or wash your hands thoroughly after handling contaminated food. Also clean and disinfect all surfaces that have come into contact with the food, including food bowls. Be sure bowls are rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry before reusing.
