Pets Will Have Plenty Of Cheer This Holiday Season
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – (For Immediate Release) – Every dog has its day, and for many pets that might well be December 25th. Although people have scaled back on the holiday gifts they buy for themselves, when it comes to their pets, they’re anything but Scrooges. At least that’s the conclusion of a shamelessly unscientific survey conducted by the 250-store Pet Supplies “Plus” chain.
According to this Internet Survey of 450 pet owners, 96% of all pets will receive gifts this holiday season. People aren’t scrimping when it comes to their pets either; 19% of the survey respondents said they will be buying six or more gifts for their pets. (Since the holidays only come around once every seven dog or cat years, that still comes out to less than one gift per season.)
Pets will even fare better than a lot of people during the holidays. More than half (56%) of respondents said they will spend more on their pets than their in-laws, and 23% said their pets will be getting more expensive gifts than their spouses, which goes to show that “being in the dog house” with your significant other isn’t necessarily as bad as it once was!
Other results from the Pet Supplies “Plus” survey are:
- 58% of pets will unwrap their own gifts
- 49% of people will sing holiday songs to their pets
- 63% of people will make special holiday treats for their pets
- 19% of pets will have New Year’s resolutions made for them by their owners.
Founded as a single pet shop in Redford Michigan in 1988, Pet Supplies “Plus” now has 250 stores in 22 states. It is the third largest pet store chain in the US. For more information visit www.petsuppliesplus.com
