Hagen Bolsters US Management Team

February 9, 2012

MANSFIELD, Mass. (For Immediate Release) – Rolf C. Hagen (USA) Corp. has announced that it has appointed Tony Hartian as Vice President of Sales and Christopher Armstrong as Director of PetSmart Operations.

Tony Hartian, Vice President of Sales

Hartian comes to Hagen from Central Garden and Pet/Four Paws, where he worked for 24 years and was most recently the Vice President of Sales.  Prior to this position, Hartian worked for the Cappet Corporation in Alexandria, VA.

Before coming to Hagen, Armstrong was the National Account Manager for Central Garden and Pet, calling on both PetSmart and Petco for over 15 years.  While in this position, Armstrong was nominated on four separate occasions for the Petco Vendor Rep of the Year, winning it once.  He previously worked for Daymon Worldwide in Stamford, Connecticut, in the food and drug channel and served eight and a half years in the US Navy.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tony Hartian and Christopher Armstrong to the Hagen USA family,” said Rolf Hagen Jr, President and CEO of Rolf C. Hagen Inc. “Both Tony and Chris have a wealth of experience and exceptional qualifications that set them apart from others.  Their skills and hands-on understanding of the distribution/retail channels will definitely be an asset in our ongoing goal of enhancing Hagen’s service and offerings to the pet trade.  They are wonderful additions to our team.”

Christopher Armstrong, Director of PetSmart Operations

“I envision a best-in-class sales organization for Hagen USA,” said Hartian of what he hopes to accomplish in his new role.  “The emphasis will be on consumer insights and trends, coupled with consultative partnering and efficient order processing, procedurally done with excellence.”

“I am excited to join the Hagen team and continue the legacy of providing the exceptionally high level of service expected of Hagen,” Armstrong said.  “Hagen has always led it’s category with its product innovations, and I look forward to executing these strategies.”

Hartian’s hiring comes on the heels of the resignation of Steven Rook from his post as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Rolf C. Hagen USA Corp.  Armstrong will assume all the responsibility of managing the PetSmart account which was formerly handled by Kim Reabe, Vice President, Key Accounts, who has also left the company and will be missed.

“Steve executed his mandate at Hagen USA and will be missed,” said Rolf Hagen Jr.  “He departed of his own accord to pursue other opportunities within the pet industry and remains a friend to the company as well as the Hagen family.  We wish both he and Kim the best in their new activities.”
