Hagen’s Exo Terra Cricket Pen Ensures Crickets Stay Healthy – and in the Pen

Exo Terra’s Cricket Pen keeps crickets safely inside until they’re ready to be fed to reptiles using the unique dispensing tubes.

MANSFIELD, Mass. Even though they are destined to become food for reptiles, crickets need comfortable surroundings and healthy food before they’re dinner.  Hagen’s new Exo Terra Cricket Pen ensures that crickets will receive all the comforts a creature could desire – a safe, escape-roof enclosure, their own food and water trays and dark tubes in which to hide – and offers the herpetologist the peace of mind that comes with knowing the crickets aren’t going anywhere…until they become lunch.

The Exo Terra Cricket Pen, from the specially-designed lid to the durable plastic pen, is designed to keep crickets healthy – and in the enclosure – until they are needed.  The ventilated lid’s air vents are large enough to let plenty of air circulate throughout the enclosure, but small enough so that even tiny crickets can’t escape and the hinged door at the top allows for easy feeding without escapes.  Unlike other cricket enclosures wit h dispensing tubes, the Exo Terra Cricket Pen’s dispensing tubes are not in the lid, but rather in the walls, which makes refilling food and water easier and faster.  The square shape of the dispensing tubes also help to hold the food and water trays in place at the bottom of the pen, preventing them from sliding around.  The food and water trays are an added bonus – most cricket enclosures do not have them, creating an added expense for the herp owner.

Most cricket enclosures without dispensing tubes are generally simple plastic boxes or small aquariums that can cause herp owners to resort to tricks and accessories in order to get the crickets out of the enclosure so they can be fed to the pets.  Exo Terra’s Cricket Pen puts an end to trying to capture the crickets in toilet paper tubes and on torn up egg cartons.  The specially-designed Cricket Pen is designed to prevent escapes and appeal to a cricket’s love of dark spaces, with black diagonal dispensing tubes that  are inserted through the walls and crisscross the interior – the crickets will readily crawl into the tubes, and the special end flap traps them inside.  Simply pull the tube out of the self-closing opening in the wall of the Cricket Pen and dispense the crickets into the herp’s enclosure.

The Exo Terra Cricket Pen comes in two sizes – Small, 7” x 5.5” x 4.3” (18 cm x 14 cm x 11 cm), which can hold up to 50 adult crickets, and Large, 12” x 8” x 7.6” (30 cm x 20.5 cm x 19.5 cm), which can hold up to 20 adult crickets.  MSRP’s are $12.99 and $26.99.  It is available online and at pet retailers nationwide.  For more information visit www.exo-terra.com, or contact the Rolf C.
