Hagen’s New Fluval Spec V Offers More Room for Fish Yet Complements Small Spaces

The Fluval Spec V has a larger capacity than other Spec aquariums, but still maintains its sleek and slender profile.

MANSFIELD, Mass. Since the introduction of the 2-gallon Fluval Spec nano aquarium, which combined style and function in a conveniently compact package, the Fluval brand from the Rolf C. Hagen (USA) Corp. has been at the forefront of the trend towards smaller, more manageable yet fully functional aquariums.  The newest member of Fluval’s line of modern, sleek aquariums is the Spec V, a larger yet still compact 5.6-gallon aquarium for those who want more room for fish and aquatic plants but need the compact size the Spec line is famous for.

The addition of the Fluval Spec V to the Spec line gives apartment dwellers or those with small spaces another option by which to enjoy the peace and tranquility the hobby of fishkeeping brings to the living or working environment.  Larger than the 2.8 gallon Spec III, the Spec V keeps the same slim profile as its cousin, but is more horizontally elongated, allowing for twice as much water and 10” more aquarium space while maintaining its ability to fit on a 12” wide shelf or narrow table.  The Fluval Spec V is a great addition to any room where space is at a premium, and is especially handsome on an office desk, allowing the serenity of an aquarium to provide an oasis of calm in an often hectic work environment.

Like the original 2-gallon Fluval Spec, the Spec V features a modern, upscale design with sleek, black lacquer-like components, etched glass and brushed aluminum trim, creating a minimalist look that blends well with any décor, from a traditionally-furnished home to an ultra-modern, urban apartment.  The aquarium’s attractiveness is enhanced by its frosted glass top and filter panel, which conceals the integrated filter and water circulation system, keeping it out of sight while it works tirelessly to maintain clean and oxygenated water for the fish that call the Spec V home.  The adjustable flow control and output nozzles on the circulation pump and the activated carbon and BioMax inserts of the filter ensure a healthy environment for the fish and helps reduce maintenance.

The focal point of the Fluval Spec V is literally its brilliance – the lighting system, which features 37 powerful yet energy efficient 7500K high-luminosity LED lamps set into the underside of a long, narrow brushed aluminum and glossy black arm that stretches across the frosted cover of the tank.  The arm is designed so the lamps are evenly spaced along its length, illuminating all corners of the aquarium and casting a clear, vibrant white daylight on the plants and fish that dwell within.

The 10.6” x 6” x 17”etched glass Fluval Spec V aquarium with aluminum trim comes with everything necessary for a quick and easy set-up – a frosted cover; circulation pump; filter with foam block, activated carbon and BioMax bio ring filter media; LED lighting system; Nutrafin Aqua Plus Water Conditioner and Biological Aquarium Supplement; and a low-voltage power supply for increased safety.  The Fluval Spec V has an MSRP of $85.99 and is available online and at pet retailers nationwide.  For more information, visit or call 1-800-225-2700.
